Global Connections
The Offices of Residence Life & Housing and international student services are pleased to continue a unique housing option for returning students called Global Connections.
This popular housing option is available to rising Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors currently in groups of 3 or 5 students who are interested in creating global connections by hosting an international exchange student in their room, providing the opportunity to learn more about each other’s culture. Participating in the Global Connections program is a great way to expand your knowledge of the world, to share your own culture with a new member of our Loyola community, and to create friendships with others from around the globe. To be considered, interested roommate groups should complete the application below as part of Phase 1 of the housing selection process. All roommates must agree to participate in this program. If a member of your roommate group selects “no” your group will automatically not be selected to participate. A member of the Global Connections committee will contact all interested groups prior to the opening of Phase 2 of the housing selection process. If accepted into the program, roommate groups comprised of 3-5 residents will be considered complete and will proceed with the standard housing process (Phase 2, receiving a lottery time and selecting any room available during their room selection time). See below for detailed instructions of the application process.
Between July and August in consultation with international student services, an incoming international exchange student will be placed with your roommate group.
Any questions about this application or this program can be directed to Residence Life & Housing.
FAQs
What if I do not have any roommates? Can I still participate in the Global Connections Housing program?
Unfortunately, this housing option is only for incomplete groups of 3 or 5. We will do our best to house everyone in the housing size they desire.
How do I apply?
Complete the Global Connections Application pages during Phase One. All students are required to complete the first page of the application. If you are interested in participating you may be asked additional questions in the housing application. Applicants will be contacted regarding the status of their application.
I am not sure if this housing option is right for me, is there someone I can talk to about it?
Absolutely! We are happy to connect you with Residence Life & Housing and the Office of International Student Services (OISS). Please email Residence Life & Housing to get connected.
