Student-run organizations play a major role in the Loyola experience. These groups offer unique opportunities for students to grow as members of the Loyola community while at the same time learning skills and behaviors that will stay with them well past graduation day.

Apprentice House Student Book Publishing

Apprentice House is the nation’s first and only book publishing house entirely run by students. Students at Loyola University Maryland are responsible for every aspect of the publishing process, from acquisitions, to editing, to design and publication of every book. As a program within the communication and media department, Apprentice House is driven by student work conducted in three courses: Introduction to Book Publishing, Book Design and Production, and Book Marketing and Promotion. Those classes are supplemented through the activities of members of the Apprentice House Book Publishing club.

Greycomm Studios

GreyComm Studios provides its students an opportunity to gain experience in the television production and broadcasting. Programming is broadcast over the campus cable system and accessible throughout the campus, including the various residence halls. Many programs are also available via YouTube.

The studios operate throughout the entire school year and welcome students from all disciplines. GreyComm works toward fulfilling the Jesuit motto of Ad Maiorem de Glorium(For the Greater Glory of God) through fostering an environment in which all students, faculty, and staff can create quality programming that best reflects the diversity of Loyola.

The Greyhound

Started in 1927, The Greyhound serves as the Loyola University Maryland student newspaper and campus news website. Approximately 3,000 copies of the newspaper are distributed each Tuesday of the academic year. The Greyhound is written, edited, and staffed by a team of Loyola undergraduate students with the help and guidance of communication department faculty. The Greyhound primarily covers campus and local news with sections in each issued dedicated to sports, arts and society, and opinion/editorial views of the student editors.

WLOY

WLOY, Loyola’s student-run radio station, broadcasts 365 days a year, and is nationally ranked among the top 10 college radio stations by mtvU and has received national awards for programs, student production and community outreach. The station provides an outstanding learning environment for students, regardless of academic major, and allows them to showcase their talent, skill and creativity. Whether a student wishes to be behind the microphone or behind the scenes, WLOY offers great opportunities. WLOY can be found locally on 1620AM, or globally via the Internet. WLOY is among the few college radio stations available through iTunes.

Evergreen Annual

Loyola's Evergreen Annual is a yearbook published by a staff of student editors at the end of each academic year, covering events from August through Commencement.

All students currently enrolled at Loyola receive a free copy of the Evergreen Annual in the fall of the subsequent year. Graduated seniors receive a copy of their book via mail. Alumni may request past editions of Evergreen Annual free of charge. Please email yearbook@loyola.edu
