Part-Time MAT
Loyola's Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program offers a course of study that provides initial teacher licensure and is designed to prepare exceptionally qualified teachers who are responsive to the needs of 21st century learners.

Elementary Licensure (Grades 1-6)
Program Format
Most classes are offered in the late afternoon and early evening (4:30-7:00pm or 7:05-9:35pm) to balance various schedules.
- During the fall and spring semesters, courses are generally offered one night per week for sixteen weeks.
- During the summer, courses are generally offered two nights per week for eight weeks.
- The part-time program can be completed in two-five years.

Professional Growth Experience
Professional Growth Experience (PGE) is available for full-time teachers who currently teach in the area in which they are seeking teacher licensure and teach within a designated commuting time from the Baltimore campus.
Participants will take a six credit option; which will fulfill the internship option.
Introducing the Noyce CREST Scholars Program
The CREST program supports tuition, books, fees, and licensure exams for full-time one-year MAT students by awarding funds ranging from approximately $18,000 to $22,000.Learn More

Program Pathways
Practical, Real-World Application
Students complete clinical experiences in Professional Development and partnership schools in the greater Baltimore area. Students who are already teaching in their licensure area may have the option to complete their field experiences and/or internship in their schools.
