B.A./B.S./MAT- 5th Year Master's Degree Program

Undergraduate students from other disciplines who wish to obtain their teacher licensure may participate in a five-year program that results in a bachelor's degree within their area of major and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree.

Pathways by Subject Area

Applicants to the program must have a major or significant coursework (27-30 credits) in the following licensure areas. We offer licensure in grades 7-12 in the following areas:

• Biology
• Chemistry
• Earth/Space Science
• English
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Social Studies

We offer PK-12 licensure in the following licensure areas:

• Art
• French
• Music (vocal or instructional)
• Spanish 

Program of Study

Students take three graduate-level courses in their senior year which count toward both the bachelor's and master's degrees. Graduate courses taken during the senior year are included in the undergraduate tuition and take the place of undergraduate electives. You will take the MAT courses on a full-time basis beginning the summer following graduation.
