Apply for Military Benefits
Apply for Benefits through the DVA
Prior to being certified at Loyola, you must first apply for GI Bill® education benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs. There are several types of benefits, so you should first review the various offerings on the GI Bill website to determine which program you may be eligible for.
After assessing your eligibility, you can apply for benefits online at Vets.gov. For comprehensive assistance with the application process, you can call the VA at 1-888-442-4551 or email your inquiry through the Ask VA (AVA) portal. The VA will review your application and issue you a Certificate of Eligibility letter, which confirms your type of benefit, the number of months of benefits remaining, and the date benefits expire. It takes 4-6 weeks to receive your Certificate of Eligibility.
GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the US. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government website at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.
Inform Loyola of Your Eligibility
To begin the certification process at Loyola, forward your Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) to vabenefits@loyola.edu.
After registering for classes, submit a Veteran Education Benefits Registration form. This form is available to students via their student account in Loyola Self-Service and must be completed for each semester that you wish to utilize VA education benefits. Loyola University Maryland's School Certifying Official (SCO) will then certify your enrollment with the VA, which will trigger processing and payment. Processing takes anywhere from nine days to ten weeks before payment authorization is made. To ensure that payment is not delayed, submit the Loyola Veterans Benefits Registration Form as soon as you are registered.
To inquire into the status of your benefits, log into eBenefits.
