Leave of Absence

At Loyola University Maryland, we understand that there may be times when employees need to step away from their regular duties to address personal, medical, or family matters. Our Leave of Absence policy is designed to provide support and flexibility during such times, ensuring that employees can focus on their needs while maintaining their connection to the university. Whether it's for personal health reasons, family care, or other qualifying circumstances, our comprehensive leave programs aim to balance individual well-being with University support.

What is a Leave of Absence?

A Leave of Absence (LOA) is typically a long-term leave granted to eligible employees, allowing them to take time away from work for health-related reasons. This may include addressing their own medical needs or caring for a family member with a serious health condition. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is managed in accordance with federal, state, and University regulations.
