Successful schools support the whole child, leverages the passion and expertise of staff, supports the fact that every child has the right to learn, and empowers healthy communities, ASCD (2019). Yet the challenges facing school and leaders today are among the toughest in decades.

The Art of Leadership Conference: Influence Resilience and the Capacity to Lead, brings educators together to transform intentions into targeted strategies for high-performing schools that achieve success for students, staff, and community members.

How do You Recruit and Retain More Male Educators of Color? You BOND!

Participants will review local and national research regarding male educators of color, consider affinity groups that support male educators of color, hear about the experience of a particular support/mentoring group for male educators of color (The BOND Project), exchange ideas about policies that support the recruitment and retention of male educators of color, and discuss the impact of male educators of color around the country.

Leadership Maturity: Leading with the End in Mind

This engaging, informative professional learning experience is designed to help aspiring leaders hone the essential leadership moves needed to advance to the next level of leadership. As leaders, we face daily challenges, but it is how we respond and rise above these challenges that determine our level of maturity and help us to stay the course in order to lead with the end in mind. Our facilitators, Dr. Stacy Ashton an Ms. Linda M. Jones, will share their professional Leadership Lessons that have helped them evolve into visionary leaders who understand the power of perseverance.

School Culture

The important role a positive school culture plays on teacher retention and creating an overall school climate of learning. This collaborative experience will allow participants to learn about current best practices, research on the impact of a positive school culture has on teacher retention, discuss and problem solve with fellow leaders.

The Role of the Principal as Literacy Leader (Elementary Focus)

The role of a principal is critical to implementing effective instruction and boosting literacy success in a school. A strong and effective school principal is a motivator and an instructional leader, with knowledge of research-based literacy practices. Participants will learn eight ways for principals to foster literacy culture, become literacy-savvy, and oversee effective literacy instruction school-wide.
