Loyola recognized as College of Distinction for excellence in engagement, teaching, community, and outcomes

Loyola University Maryland has been named a College of Distinction for the 2024-25 academic year, highlighting its unwavering commitment to providing an exceptional undergraduate education that equips students for future academic and career success.

Loyola earned the College of Distinction designation in the Catholic, Maryland, business, career development, education, and engineering categories. 

“This recognition from Colleges of Distinction highlights Loyola’s focus on the undergraduate experience and dedication to fostering a supportive and enriching academic environment,” said Terrence M. Sawyer, J.D., president of Loyola. “We are proud that Loyola shines when we are evaluated on how we engage our students and how we prepare them to go out and be leaders in a changing world.”

Colleges of Distinction was created in 2000 to help students and their families navigate the process of choosing the right school, awarding institutions for their successful implementation of high-impact educational practices and hands-on learning. The website evaluates colleges in four areas: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community, and successful outcomes. Only institutions that demonstrate exceptional performance in those areas are accepted.
