ASALH Virtual Convening

On Monday, March 24, 2025, ASALH held its first Virtual Convening to discuss what is next. March 24 marks six-weeks until 47’s First 100 Days. The convening started with an introduction from Dr. LaMarr Darnell Shields, thought leader and educator. Then, Dr. Sheila Flemming, former president of ASALH, discussed the next big projects and events that ASALH has in store. Dr. Kaye Wise Whitehead, the current president of ASALH, officially started off the program and introduced Representative Al Green who discussed The Conscience Agenda. After his thoughts, an AAPF video was able to set the mood for the upcoming panel. The panel members Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw, Dr. Lester Spence, Melanie Campbell, and Tanya Clay House, Esq. were facilitated by Dr. Kaye on discussing what is next during the current state of the United States. To end the convening, Dr. Kaye laid the groundwork of ASALH’s Magna Carta and went into detail about what the audience should take away from it. The after show from 9 pm- 9:30 pm was led by Dr. Shields, Dr. Kevin Washington, and Chauncey Whitehead. Here they went into depth about how to stay on top of wellness and your personal mental health during challenging times.

The recorded version of the event will be posted on our YouTube Channel. We want to thank all the panelists and those who worked behind the scenes to create this event! Thank you to all those who attended, asked questions, and made this event a successful, engaging night!
