Karson Election Watch Party

A flyer showing the Election Countdown event's banner.

On November 5, 2024, the Karson Institute held an Election Watch Party on the 1st floor of the Loyola Notre Dame Library from 7pm-12am. This event included food, games, storytelling, and so much more. Students from Loyola University Maryland, Notre Dame, and guests from outside both universities joined together to watch the results of this historic election. This event, hosted in collaboration with UMBC’s School of Public Policy, the Short Kuts Show, and MissionFit, hosted over 250 attendees! The attendees were able to eat pizza, ice cream, popcorn, and at the end enjoyed some hot chocolate and cider. Every half hour we were treated to a storyteller about a personal experience with politics, presidents, etc. Then an explanation and update by Dr. Kaye about the road to 270 votes, the number needed for a nominee to win the electoral college. In the back half of the 1st floor, there were opportunities to paint, color, make buttons, and destress. We really created a night of community. We are so thankful for all those who came and supported the event!
