On April 25, 2025, Loyola University Maryland will host the 25th annual campus-wide forum highlighting undergraduate student research. The goal of the Colloquium is to encourage scholastic endeavors that focus on the generation of new knowledge and the creative integration of existing scholarship.

Application Requirements
All currently enrolled undergraduate students of the University are eligible to make submissions to the Colloquium. The application form requires identification of a Loyola University faculty member who will agree to serve as a mentor in the application process.
Please be sure that you have all the information in front of you before completing the form.
You will be required to indicate if you wish to present a poster (or visual) or oral presentation at the Colloquium:
- A poster presentation involves a display of the main points, ideas, and findings of the research, which the students refer to as they explain their work (a poster will be displayed in the designated area).
- An oral presentation is a more formal presentation within a classroom setting (10 minutes max).

General Guidelines
Note: Please read the instructions below carefully before proceeding to complete the online application form.
- Proposals must be submitted as an abstract with a title and the text (a 300-word limit). When preparing your abstract, please refer to the evaluation criteria below and collaborate closely with your mentors to develop your proposal.
- Online submission: Complete the application form and upload your abstract. Ensure all required information
is filled out accurately. You will be asked your preference for an oral presentation
or a poster.
- If your proposal involves multiple authors, please obtain (a) full names, (b) Loyola ID, (c) Loyola email, (d) phone number, (e) mailing address, (f) class year, and (g) Major for all authors.
- Each student may submit only one poster and one oral presentation proposal as lead author.
- Since the Committee conducts a blind review process, proposals (excluding the application form) must anonymize your own work and your mentor’s work in text or citations. (uses the word "Anonymous" in place of the author's name).
Evaluation Criteria
The proposals are evaluated using the following criteria.
- Background
- Presented relevant theories/concepts/models/Prototypes
- Provided citations or referred to other sources when providing background information
- Goal
- Clearly stated research questions/project objectives
- Realistic and achievable objectives
- Methods
- Appropriate methods given goals
- State evaluative plan (e.g., data analysis, interpretation of the work)
- Application
- Importance in the field
- Academic writing quality
Undergraduate Research Colloquium 2025
- Your faculty mentor should read your abstract before submission. Has your mentor read the abstract?
- Choose the academic division in which your proposal will compete.
- Presentation Style. (Note that Humanities accepts Oral Presentations only.)
- Have you already submitted another proposal as the Lead Applicant? (Note: you are allowed to submit a maximum of one poster proposal and one oral presentation proposal.)
