What is the SWISS survey?
  • The Student Well-being Institutional Support Survey (SWISS) is a voluntary, opt-in, online survey administered as a collaboration between Loyola University Maryland and the Institute for Well-being at Butler University. This survey gathers information from undergraduate and graduate students regarding their perceptions of how well Loyola supports various aspects of their well-being.

Survey Background:

  • Starting in Fall 2024, Loyola plans to administer the SWISS every three years. In October 2024, all undergraduate and graduate students at Loyola will be invited by email to participate in the SWISS. The student input from the SWISS will help identify aspects of Loyola’s supports systems that are in need of adjustments in order to better encourage the overall well-being of our students.
  • The SWISS collects information about students' basic needs, demographics, and their perceptions of supports their institutions provide for various aspects of their wellbeing. Broadly, the aspects studied include intellectual, social, mind/body, diversity, and meaning/purpose.
  • SWISS asks questions about how your experiences at your institution support various aspects of your wellbeing such as academic, social, mental and physical, and diversity. Responses to this survey will be used by leaders at your school to improve institutional support for student wellbeing, as well as by researchers who are interested in how wellbeing is supported at campuses in the United States.
