This program enhances the overall Loyola experience, providing unique opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. Through Sellinger Scholars, classroom instruction, internship opportunities, and extracurriculars, I have not only grown as a student but as a person. The Sellinger School of Business and Loyola’s Jesuit values have helped me develop the skills to become a leader in the workplace.

The Sellinger Scholars Society

The Sellinger Scholars Society is an affiliate organization into which all Sellinger Scholars are inducted automatically, and one which offers unique opportunities for leadership within the program, the school of Business, and across campus. The Society serves as a platform for personal and professional growth, helping students build a strong foundation for their future careers while contributing meaningfully to the betterment of society. By getting involved, individuals not only enhance their academic experience but also become part of a supportive community that encourages innovation, leadership, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world.

Meet the Faculty

Lynne Elkes headshot
Lynne Elkes, MBA Director of Sellinger Scholars Business Honors Program; Teaching Professor of Economics
"As leaders and as change-makers, the real strength of leadership comes from the love that leads to listening, sharing, working together, and realizing that what we will accomplish together is greater than anything we can ever do alone. The Scholars program is the beginning of that humble journey."

Lynne Elkes, MBA, has taught economics at Loyola since 1994, bringing real-world experience as a former licensed stockbroker. She specializes in both macro and microeconomics, with research interests in market strategy and economic pedagogy. As the Director of the Sellinger Scholars Business Honors Program, Lynne works closely with high-achieving students to help them excel academically and professionally. She believes Loyola’s rigorous academics, combined with its supportive community, create an ideal environment for students to thrive and develop the skills needed for future success.

“Loyola students know why they’re here. They believe in something larger than themselves, and they come in committed to improving themselves and their communities. The faculty also come here with a sense of purpose. Nobody’s just in it for themselves here. I have yet to have a single unrewarding day on campus.”

JP Krahel, Ph.D., CPA, joined the Sellinger School of Business in 2012 and teaches accounting at both the undergraduate and graduate level. His areas of research include digital financial reporting, corporate social media risk, and accounting education. He believes Loyola’s liberal arts core curriculum coupled with our exceptional business education gives students a considerable advantage in the workplace.

“To me, reflection is not just a Jesuit value—it’s an essential tool for personal and professional growth at all levels of an organization. Loyola’s focus on cultural and global thinking, combined with its mission-driven values, makes it truly unique and timely.”

Dave Luvison, DBA, joined the Loyola faculty in 2020. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, tailoring them to students’ varying levels of experience. With a research focus on collaboration challenges in group settings, Luvison incorporates reflection into his coursework to inspire growth. He believes Loyola’s commitment to cura personalis and its friendly, collaborative environment set it apart as a learning community.
