Loyola’s new strategic plan, Together We Rise, sets a goal for the University to be recognized as a “Great College to Work For” by The Chronical of Higher Education. The Great Colleges to Work For survey presents an opportunity to assess the climate of our workforce, and most importantly, to provide an anonymous mechanism for you to express honest feedback.

What is the Great Colleges to Work for Program?

The Great Colleges to Work For Program®  is sponsored by The Chronicle of Higher Education in partnership with ModernThink and provides senior-level administrators with feedback and insights from our faculty and staff on the quality of the workplace experience, competitiveness of our policies and benefits, and insight on opportunities to improve.

When will the survey take place?

The survey will open for four weeks beginning Monday, March 18, 2024 and run through Friday, April 5, 2024.

How long will I take me to complete the survey?

Individual completion times may vary since the survey includes several open-ended questions; however, it typically takes about 18-22 minutes to complete.

Can I start the survey and finish it later?  

Yes! Your answers will be stored every time you click the "Save and Continue" button at the bottom of each page. You can log in to your survey as many times as you need in order to complete the survey. In order to protect the confidentiality of your responses, you will not be able to log in again once you click the "Submit" button on the last page of the survey and you will not be able to submit responses after the survey is closed on Friday, April 5, 2024.

Can I complete the survey at work?  

Yes. Employees are encouraged to complete the survey during their scheduled work hours. Additionally, supervisors are encouraged to work with their team to adjust schedules and/or job responsibility as necessary so employees can take the survey while at work.

How does it work?  

Regular faculty, staff, and administrators employed by Loyola University Maryland will receive an email from ModernThink, an independent management consulting firm focusing on workplace quality in higher education, inviting them to participate in the survey. The email invite will direct employees to a secure ModernThink website to complete the online survey. The survey will be open from March 18, 2024 – April 5, 2024, during which a series of reminder communications asking recipients to complete the survey will be sent.

Is the survey anonymous and confidential?

Responses are completely anonymous and confidential. ModernThink will not report back results for questions that have fewer than five respondents. Why will the survey invite come from ModernThink?

By having a third-party provider facilitate the survey process, responses will be anonymous and confidential.

Why is participation important?  

Results from this survey help the President’s Cabinet recommend and prioritize initiatives for the betterment of the Loyola community.

When will survey results be available?  

Loyola University Maryland expects to receive survey results in late July 2024. Results will be shared with the University community once available.
