Minor in Secondary Education
Program Curriculum
A minor in Secondary Education allows students from other disciplines to complete degree requirements for their major while taking the education courses required for licensure. Secondary education licensure programs focusing on grades 7-12 are offered in biology, chemistry, earth/space science, English, mathematics, physics, and social studies*. Secondary education licensure programs focusing on grades PK-12 are offered in art, French, German, Spanish, and music (both instrumental and vocal).
*Social studies licensure includes majors in economics, geography, government, history, philosophy, political science, psychology, and sociology. It is necessary to have at least 15 credits in history.
Beyond the Classroom
Two early field experiences plus a 100-day internship over two semesters.

Declaring A Minor
Undergraduate students interested in pursuing the minor must schedule an appointment to meet with the secondary education minor advisor before declaring the minor.
Students who wish to add, change, or drop a minor must submit a Change of Minor form to the Office of the Registrar (MH 141). Be sure to get all the signatures required prior to submitting this form. The Change of Minor form is available on the Office of the Registrar website, or in the Office of the Registrar (MH 141).
