What is the application deadline?
The priority application deadline for the Concurrent M.Ed. is August 2. Please visit the Admission Requirements / Apply tab for more information.
Do I have to wait until I’ve collected all my admission documents before applying to Loyola?
You can upload your admission documents into the application portal as you complete them. Official transcripts must be sent directly from your school(s). We strongly recommend that all applicants have their schools send us official e-transcripts if possible. All foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated by an approved international academic record evaluation service. Visit the International Academic Records page for a list of approved services.
I have already submitted references to my AMI training institute. Do I need a new/different letter of recommendation for my Loyola application?
Loyola will only accept professional and academic recommendations. If you have already submitted one or more reference letters to your AMI institute, one of those (professional or academic) recommendations may be forwarded to graduate@loyola.edu to be included in your Loyola application.
If I choose not to apply for Loyola’s Montessori Graduate program this year, can I apply once I’ve finished my AMI training?
To be enrolled in Loyola’s Concurrent Montessori graduate program, you must also be enrolled with the relevant AMI partner institute prior to the first Fall term of your training. Coursework through Loyola University Maryland will begin during fall semester even if you begin your AMI Montessori training in summer months.
If you miss the admission deadline for the Concurrent program, you may have the option to take one of our other program pathways. Contact montessori@loyola.edu for more information.
Once my application is complete, how long will I wait to learn if I’ve been admitted?
Once the Office of Graduate Admission has received a complete application, it will be handed over to the admission committee for review. The committee typically reviews all Concurrent applications between May and August.
When should I apply for financial aid?
Applicants seeking federal or private loans should submit an application with our Graduate Financial Aid office at the same time they are applying to the graduate program (priority deadline of August 2). Please visit Loyola’s financial aid website for more information.
How do I register for my graduate courses?
Once accepted into the Concurrent M.Ed. program, all course registration takes place online through Loyola Self Service > Student Planning. For further instructions, please visit the Office of the Registrar registration page.
How long will I have to complete my degree?
You have five (5) years from the start of training in which to complete all master's course requirements.
What if I need to pause my studies?
Students may take a semester off and must coordinate with their academic advisor for minimal disruption to their course schedule. Loyola's time limit policy stipulates that students who remain unenrolled for three consecutive semesters will be automatically withdrawn from the program. Students needing to request a formal Leave of Absence for personal or medical reasons may pause their studies for up to one year within the policy guidelines.
Does the program prepare me for certification in my state?
If you live in the state of Maryland, this degree will prepare students for a Montessori Professional Certificate (MPC). To find out more about the Maryland Professional Certificate, please visit the Maryland State Department of Education website.
