Loyola holds panel of academics from across disciplines
Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management will hold a free panel event “Engaging Audiences Outside Academia” focusing on bridging the gap between academia and the wider world. The event will include breakout sessions and take place virtually on Friday, Nov. 5, from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Faculty members from across disciplines and universities who have engaged audiences outside academia through popular books, podcasts, blogs and other media will share their experiences. Panelists include:
- Anirban Basu, Ph.D., is chairman and CEO of Sage Policy Group Inc., an economic and policy consulting firm headquartered in Baltimore with an office in Indonesia. He regularly contributes to NPR and serves on boards and commissions across the region.
- Kelly DeVries, Ph.D., department chair and professor of history at Loyola University Maryland, has written books on medieval military history, warfare, historic battles and military leaders. He speaks as an expert commentator on TV documentaries, including programs on the History channel.
- Kimberly Wehle, J.D., professor of law at the University of Baltimore, has written three books that explain complex constitutional concepts to lay audiences. She has served as an on-air legal analyst and commentator for CBS News and contributes to BBC, PBS, The Atlantic, Politico, The Bulwark and The Hill.
Moderators for this event will be:
- Tuugi Chuluun, Ph.D., associate professor of finance and Travelers Fellow at Loyola’s Sellinger School of Business
- Elizabeth Kennedy, J.D., associate professor of law and social responsibility at Loyola’s Sellinger School of Business
- Oghenetoja Okoh, Ph.D., assistant professor of history at Loyola University Maryland
