Message from Loyola’s president, Rev. Brian F. Linnane, S.J.: Celebrating the life of U.S. Sen. Paul Sarbanes
Rev. Brian F. Linnane, S.J., president of Loyola University Maryland, released this statement on the death of U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes:
“During his 30 years in the U.S. Senate, Senator Sarbanes was a quiet but powerful leader for the residents of Baltimore and Maryland. He will be remembered as a public servant with integrity, courage, and a deep understanding of the communities he represented. A leader who felt called to support and strengthen his community, Senator Sarbanes helped achieve significant, historic progress in many ways, including in opposing corporate fraud, championing legislation to support the environment and the Chesapeake Bay, and fighting for improved mass transit. On behalf of Loyola, I want to express our condolences to the Sarbanes family and assure them of our prayerful support.”
