Washington Monthly ranks Loyola high among master’s-granting universities

Loyola University Maryland has been ranked No. 16 on a list of 614 colleges for Washington Monthly’s 2020 Master’s University Rankings. The ranking is assigned to institutions that award a significant number of master’s degrees but few or no doctoral degrees. Loyola’s eight-year graduation rate is 82%. 

The University was also ranked No. 67 for “Best Bang for the Buck Rankings in the Northeast” and was named one of the nation’s “Best Colleges for Student Voting.”

Washington Monthly rankings consist of three equally weighted portions: social mobility, research, and community and national service. This year, 1,469 colleges including public, private nonprofit, and for-profit institutions were included in the rankings.

“Washington Monthly’s emphasis on strong outcomes, student service, and teaching excellence as the key drivers for its ranking mythology aligns well with what matters most to prospective families: student support during college and preparation for the future,” said Eric Nichols, vice president for enrollment management. "It's great recognition of the excellent work our faculty and staff do preparing students for life after Loyola.”
