Yours, Mine, and Ours: Benefits and Challenges of Training Counselors in an Interdisciplinary Setting

View the poster >>

The Loyola Clinical Centers at Loyola University Maryland provide collaborative services to persons with aphasia and their caregivers.  Pastoral Counseling, Speech/Language Pathology, and Psychological services are offered to families using group and individual treatment.  The disciplines also provide multidisciplinary training in supported conversation and group and individual counseling skills.  This presentation serves to highlight the usefulness of collaborative conversation and training amongst these disciplines.  It showcases the application of each discipline’s ethical guide through an interprofessional team-approach.  The efficacy of this unique interdisciplinary process cannot be overstated as expanded dimensions for student, faculty, and client growth; personally, professionally, and spiritually were built and maintained.
