The Mount Saint Agnes College Alumnae Association and the Loyola Alumni Association host the annual Sister Cleophas Costello Lecture—a lecture series featuring prominent women—in honor of the late Sister Mary Cleophas Costello.

The event is open to the Loyola community, Mount Saint Agnes College alumnae, and the public. 

2023 Lecture: An Evening with Bonnie Garmus

Loyola University Maryland welcomed Bonnie Garmus, New York Times best selling author, for the 32nd Sister Cleophas Costello Lecture on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023. Visit Loyola's Facebook page to see photos and a recap of the evening. 

Author of Lessons in Chemistry

Bonnie Garmus is a copywriter and creative director who has worked widely in the fields of technology, medicine, and education. She’s an open-water swimmer, a rower, and mother to two pretty amazing daughters. Born in California and most recently from Seattle, she currently lives in London with her husband and her dog, 99.

Garmus' debut novel Lessons in Chemistry was published in April 2022 and has been recognized as a "Best Book of the Year" by The New York TimesWashington Post, NPR, Oprah DailyEntertainment Weekly, and Newsweek. The novel has been adapted into a television series, debuting on Apple TV+ in October 2023.
