Loyola University Maryland's Pregnancy, Parenting, & Lactation Policy

Loyola Today Post from March 11, 2024

Loyola University of Maryland has established a policy and associated procedures for ensuring the protection and equal treatment of pregnant students, students with pregnancy-related conditions, and students who are parenting.

To receive and/or discuss reasonable adjustments for pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions including (but not limited to) pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, conditions arising in connection with pregnancy, and recovery from these conditions, students may self-disclose through the Student Pregnancy or Related Conditions Self-Disclosure Form or contact Title IX directly. Additional information can be found in The Title IX Rights of Pregnant, Parenting and Lactating Students Policy.

Employees who require adjustments or accommodations should contact Human Resources Employee  Engagement at 410-617-2354.

Important Title IX Updates

New regulations from the United States Department of Education, which were scheduled to go into effect on August 1, 2024, have been vacated by a federal district court decision on January 9, 2025. The University will make the necessary adjustments to the policy and process to comply with the most recent government laws, regulations, or court holdings. We will continue to apply the University's Sexual and Gender-Based Misconduct Policy for incidents falling under the 2020 Title IX regulation jurisdiction, and the Sex-based Harassment and Discrimination policy for incidents not covered by the 2020 Title IX jurisdiction but falling under the Sex-based Harassment and Discrimination policy. The Office of Title IX and Bias Compliance will provide updates as they become available. The Office of Title IX and Bias Compliance is reviewing and updating policies, and they will be available on the Title IX Policy page. The University remains committed to supporting all members of our community. For questions, please contact titleix-bias@loyola.edu.
