Sport Programs
Tyler Zorn joined the Loyola University Maryland Department of Recreation and Wellness in May of 2022 as the Assistant Director of Sport Programs. In this role, he oversees the university’s 26 club sport teams and all their coaches/student officers. Tyler also supervises the intramural sports program, working closely with 14 Intramural Supervisors and more than 60 student officials.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Tyler earned his bachelor’s degree in communication
from Loyola in January 2022. After graduation, he worked as the Competitive Sports
Intern for a semester before accepting the full-time position. As a student at Loyola,
Tyler was an Intramural Supervisor in charge of running the basketball program, and
a dedicated student official. He was also a starting pitcher on the club baseball
team. Prior to Loyola, Tyler graduated from Regis High School, a Jesuit high school
in New York City.
Outside of this position, Tyler is very passionate about basketball officiating. He
started as a referee when he was 13 years old, officiating rec leagues at the local
church in his hometown. Tyler continued his officiating career in college when he
became an intramural basketball official, refereeing 5 intramural championship games
during his undergraduate years. When he was 19 years old, Tyler began officiating
high school basketball in Baltimore City. Recently, he just completed his 6th season
officiating at the high school level and his 3rd season officiating at the NCAA Division
III level. In addition, Tyler has spent the past two summers officiating pro-am games
in NYC, Baltimore, and DC.
Tyler is a suffering sports fan, rooting for the New York Mets, Jets, and Islanders. None of his teams have won a championship during his lifetime, but Tyler stays optimistic, nonetheless. He enjoys exploring Baltimore, and its many unique neighborhoods and eateries.
