Jane Satterfield, Professor of Writing, publishes new poetry collection, The Badass Brontës

Jane Satterfield's new poetry collection, The Badass Brontës, a Diode Editions Book Prize winner, was published in March 2023 and listed among Orion Magazine’s 11 Poetry collections for National Poetry month. New poems appear in The More-Than-Human issue of About Place, a literary journal published by the Black Earth Institute.

In poems of biography and reinvention, The Badass Brontës explores the lives and afterlives Brontë sisters Emily, Charlotte, and Anne whose feminist vision and sensitivity to the more-than-human world serves as inspiration for generations of readers and writers. Ranging from life narrative to lyric elegies to witty inquiries into the sisters’ status as popular culture avatars, the book illuminates the creative achievements of three extraordinary women whose influence continues to be felt.
