Alexa visited 29 schools during her college search, but only one felt like home. She came to Loyola from Pennsylvania and has embraced the Jesuit value of cura personalis, or care of the whole person, through her involvement with Student Government Association, the Rizzo Career Center, and Loyola Consulting Group, all while developing in her faith journey.

Daelin

Biopsychology | Business

Daelin, from New York, hoped to find a college where he could make a difference and discover his purpose. At Loyola, he has served as a mentor to new students, established an intentional living community for students of color, and made a meaningful impact within the campus community. His future career in nursing will further allow him to make a difference in the world.

Communication | Writing

April arrived at Loyola from her hometown in New Jersey with a passion for connecting with others. This made a communication major with specializations in advertising/public relations and digital media a natural fit. Her work through Loyola’s student newspaper and television studio have helped her hone her skills, forge a career path, and stand with her fellow Greyhounds. Her semester spent studying abroad in Rome, Italy, provided further journalism experience, opportunity for travel, and life-changing perspective.

Madison

Psychology | Gender & Sexuality Studies | History

A current student in Loyola’s Master of Arts in Teaching Program, Madison was inspired to foster an inclusive and supportive community for new Greyhounds following her own experience in Loyola’s first-year program. Her roles as an Evergreen student leader and Greyhound Ambassador have further prepared the Maryland native to launch her career as a compassionate and capable educator.

Jack

Theology | Business

School spirit and campus culture are important to Jack, a Massachusetts native. From cheering on Greyhounds Athletics to planning annual events for the study body and retreats through Campus Ministry, he’s enjoyed and helped create a vibrant college experience. A semester studying abroad in Amsterdam has inspired Jack to travel following the completion of his graduate degree through Loyola’s Accelerated Master of Theological Studies program.

John

Biochemistry | Classical Civilizations

A Maryland native, John has taken advantage of Loyola’s rigorous liberal arts education and pursued his wide-ranging academic interests. He has benefitted find mentors in various fields of study, further preparing him to pursue medical school after Loyola. The Honors Program has enriched John’s academic experience in addition to his passion for leading Outdoor Adventure excursions such as hiking and kayaking.

Guillermo

Economics | History

Guillermo has made meaningful relationships with history and economics professors and academic fulfillment beyond his classes. He has discovered a passion through Loyola’s men’s rowing team and his teammates have become his friends. He credits Loyola’s strong community and first-year program, Messina, with helping him adjust well to college life and to Baltimore, especially as a new student coming from Puerto Rico.

Bailey

Psychology | African & African American Studies

Growing up in Maryland, Bailey became passionate about working toward a more just and equitable world and curating community—and she enjoys helping other students do the same. Through Loyola’s Center for Community, Service, and Justice, she is involved with and leads community-based engagement; she founded her own small business to tutor local students; she also produces a podcast about and for women of color at Loyola.

Jason

Sustainability Management | Marketing

Jason arrived at Loyola from New Jersey undecided on what he wanted to study. He enrolled in diverse courses and determined his major. He connected with mentors in the Sellinger School of Business, and even won a regional competition representing Sellinger Scholars, Loyola’s business honors program. As he prepares to spend a semester in Madrid, Spain, he’s already built lasting memories and relationships on the Evergreen campus.

Tobi

Psychology | Political Science

Tobi didn’t have to travel far from his Maryland home to find a transformative college experience. He’s had the opportunity to play Division I soccer, mentor new Loyola students, gain valuable internship experience in legislation and policy, and work in the Career Center as a career ambassador. He feels his time at Loyola has distinctly prepared him to enter the world after graduation, and he is confident and ready to launch his career in politics.

Kayla

Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences | Special Education

When she arrived at Loyola from Connecticut, Kayla, now a student in the Speech Language Pathology Master of Science Program, committed to making the most of her experience early on. She explored Baltimore, joined different student clubs and organizations, and worked diligently toward her career as a speech pathologist. Here, Kayla shares the ways in which Loyola has helped her open doors and turn passions into pathways.
