About the Keynote Speaker:

Jessica Methot, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management in the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University and a Distinguished Research Professor of Management at the University of Exeter Business School, UK. Dr. Methot conducts research on interpersonal workplace relationships and social network dynamics, including how formal HR practices transform informal social networks, the functional and dysfunctional consequences of workplace relationships, and their temporal and multidimensional features. Her research in these areas has been published in leading academic journals including the Academy of Management JournalAcademy of Management ReviewPersonnel PsychologyJournal of Management and Journal or Organizational Behavior, and has been featured in over 300 popular media outlets including Harvard Business ReviewNPRThe New York TimesThe Wall Street JournalBloombergFortuneFast Company, and NY Times Magazine. She is currently an Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Review and Personnel Psychology, the Director of the Rutgers IRHR PhD Program, and a board member for the Rutgers Center for Women and Work (CWW). She is also co-founder of the website WorkTies.org, a cultivated repository for academic research and news on work relationships.

Kevin Rockmann, Ph.D. Professor of Management at the George Mason University

Kevin Rockman is a Professor of Management at the George Mason University Costello College of Business, where his research involves studying working relationships in organizations, including how relationships are generated, maintained, and dissolve. He's particularly interested in how organizations cultivate relationships given the increasing use of remote work. Kevin teaches and consults in the areas of relational leadership, cultivating high quality relationships, and negotiation and conflict management. His research has been covered by Time, NY Times, NPR, Forbes, and the Chicago Tribune. He is the immediate past editor-in-chief at Academy of Management Discoveries where he wrote about the importance of exploratory research, the importance of academic writing, and how the Academy of Management journals work together. He is the lead author of Negotiation: Moving from Conflict to Agreement (Sage, 2021). His current work is focused on how organization policies, structures, and routines that deal with relationships specifically work to shape relational systems in organizations and critical organizational outcomes.

Chris Myers, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Management, Medicine, and Public Health, and the founding Faculty Director of the Center for Innovative Leadership at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School

Christopher G. Myers, PhD is an Associate Professor of Management & Organization and the founding Faculty Director of the Center for Innovative Leadership at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. He also holds joint appointments in Johns Hopkins University’s School of Medicine and Bloomberg School of Public Health. His research and teaching focus on individual learning, leadership development, and innovation, with particular attention to how people learn vicariously and share knowledge in health care organizations and other knowledge-intensive work environments. He has received a variety of awards and honors for his research and teaching, including being named by Poets & Quants as one of the top 40 business school professors under 40 world-wide. Prior to joining the faculty at Johns Hopkins University, Chris was an Assistant Professor at the Harvard Business School and received his PhD in management and organizations from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

Michael Tews, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Hospitality Management, Pennsylvania State University

Michael J. Tews is an Associate Professor in the School of Hospitality Management at Penn State University, where he teaches courses in human resource management. Michael earned his PhD from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, specializing in human resource management and organizational behavior. Michael also earned his BS from Cornell University and his MS from the Department of Industrial Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Michael’s research focuses on the application of industrial and organizational psychology to the hospitality industry. His work examines issues relating to employee recruiting and selection, training and development, and employee retention. His work has appeared in journals such as Personnel Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Organizational Research Methods, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, and the Cornell Hospitality Quarterly. On an applied front, Michael has conducted management opinion surveys, developed employee selection systems, and designed management development programs for a variety of organizations. Michael has also worked as a recruiter and trainer in the hospitality, biotechnology, and information technology industries.
