Commemoration of Martyrs MassSpecial Events

Each year, a line of white crosses along the academic Quad stands in memory of the martyrs of Central America. In this way, Loyola College honors those who have been killed because they stood up for the rights of the voiceless and because they made an option for the poor. This opening Mass will begin this period of commemoration.

Ignatian Family Teach-In and SOA VigilSpecial Events

Columbus, Georgia
A group of Loyola students, faculty, administrators, staff and Baltimore community members will travel to the annual Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice in Columbus, Georgia. The Ignatian Family Teach-In is an annual gathering that serves both to honor the Jesuits and other martyrs in El Salvador and to protest the activities of the US military and government in the region.

Presence for Christmas and Lessons and CarolsSpecial Events

The Sophomore Class and the Center for Community Service and Justice have been co-sponsoring the “Presence for Christmas” program for nearly 15 years. The Loyola College community (faculty, staff, administrators and student groups) adopts approximately 75 families each year and provides a food basket and presents for each family member. The wrapped gifts are received at “Lessons and Carols” an Advent/Christmas service.
