Services for Undergraduates Whether you need help choosing a major, exploring careers, gaining career-related experience, or developing job search skills, The Career Center staff is here to offer support and assistance.
We work to provide services and resources for ALL students. The earlier you engage with The Career Center, the more we have to offer and the better prepared you'll be for that next step. We are available Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. to assist students with the following: Choosing a Major Self-Assessment Internship and Job Search Preparation Job Leads and Career Resources On Campus Recruiting Networking with Alumni Graduate and Professional Schools Career Fairs and Special Programs Career Peer Educators

1. The Career Center is only for business majors. Resume building, interviewing, graduate school preparation, interest testing, and Career Fairs are just a few of the services provided by The Career Center to assist liberal arts majors interested in education, arts, the humanities, non-profit work and more.
2. Most of the services are for Seniors. The Career Center works to provide services for all students. Review our services and find out how we can help you develop a four-year career action plan.
3. The Career Center places people in jobs. While the On Campus Recruiting Program is a significant function of The Career Center, it is our mission to help students conduct a thoughtful, thorough, and effective job search that includes self assessment, workshops, internships, career field research and graduate school planning.
4. Good companies don’t come to campus. Numerous companies visit campus each year purposely in search of Loyola students from a variety of majors. Visit Hounds4Hire to find out who’s coming.
5. The jobs available through On Campus Recruiting are only for business majors. While a number of on-campus recruiters seek business majors, there are many employers who seek and hire liberal arts and science majors.
6. The services are no longer available after I graduate. As a Loyola alum, The Career Center’s resources are available to you as long you as need them.
7. The Career Center cannot help me apply to Graduate School. Career Advisors are here to help you with every aspect of applying to graduate school including program research, interviewing, and help with your personal statement.
8. There are no internships for Freshmen and Sophomores. Many employers are interested in hiring freshman and sophomore interns. Hounds4Hire, internships-usa.com, and the Career Resource Library are great places to start exploring opportunities.
Four Year Career Action Plan Highlights Freshman and Sophomore Year Strategies Get to know us during Summer Orientation, at our Open House, in the “First Year Experience” course, and in our Center. Evaluate your interests, abilities and values. Meet with a Career Advisor to take an interest test and/or discuss your choice of major. Attend the Majors Exploration Fair in the Spring Semester. Apply for internships and/or summer jobs. Investigate Hounds4Hire, which has internships and job listings on-line.
Junior Year Strategies Junior year is the time to make some decisions about post graduation plans. Is graduate school in your future? Have you developed your job seeking skills? Keep networking. We can connect you with Loyola graduates who are working in professions that interest you. Stay in touch. Our Career Advisors are always available to assist you.
Senior Year Strategies Senior year is the time to integrate all the experiences and activities of the last three years. You need to make some career decisions and prepare to make your transition into the world of work or graduate study. Attend workshops.
