Career Resources for Liberal Arts Majors
The Career Center provides a wide range of services for students of all majors. Still, a number of common career services myths exist. A liberal arts major allows students to cultivate a wide range of skills and characteristics that may be used in numerous careers. While this is one of the many benefits of a liberal arts major, it may pose a challenge for some students who have difficulty linking their major to a well-defined career path. The Career Center encourages students to major in a subject that interests and motivates them, while advising them on ways to maximize the vaule of their degree and show how this value translates to the workplace. We help students: - Identify career-related work experiences that will compliment their education with experiences such as internships
- Identify campus activitiesthat help develop marketable skills
- Articulate and communicate skills and qualifications to employers by offering practice interviews and resume critiques
While all of our services are available to students of all majors, the following may be of particular interest: The Career Center understands the value of a liberal arts education and we can help students plan for success in today's job market. Our annual follow-up surveys indicate that liberal arts majors find satisfaction and success in a wide-range of jobs after they graduate. |
