Loyola's programs in elementary and secondary education are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). Graduates automatically meet academic requirements for certification in Maryland and in other states with reciprocity agreements. The Teacher Preparation Improvement Plan (TPIP), submitted annually to MSDE, outlines our commitment to the preparation of future teachers, and documents the close connection between Loyola’s School of Education and Professional Development Schools in the state of Maryland.
School of Education Praxis Test Scores
The Praxis, a series of tests taken by individuals planning to enter the teaching field, measures teacher candidates’ knowledge and skills. Although each State determines its own certification requirements, Praxis results are used for licensing in Maryland and most other states as part of the certification process.
