Of seven Kolvenbach awards granted for Summer 2009 and Spring 2010, two went to members of the Sellinger School of Business and Management. Matt Cairns, Sellinger Scholar, class of 2010, was one of three undergraduate students to receive a summer research grant. Summer research grants are available for undergraduate and graduate students, members of the staff and administration, and members of the faculty. Jonathan Raelin, Ph.D. was named a Kolvenbach Fellow for his project, “Stakeholder Marginalization: The Overt Exclusion of an Impoverished Population.” Kolvenbach Fellows receive a course release in the spring semester for conducting socially-engaged research. This award is available for tenure-track and tenured faculty. Inspired by an October 2000 address by Rev. Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, S.J., the Kolvenback programs are designed to foster socially-engaged research. For more information on the Kolvenbach programs, contact Loyola’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
