Loyola announces ethical business event series

Loyola University Maryland will host Ethics Week, a series focused on ethical issues in business, Feb. 15 - 18. The series developed through a partnership between the law and social responsibility department at the Sellinger School of Business and Management and the philosophy department at Loyola College, the University’s school of arts and sciences, dedicated to teaching students to make ethical and sustainable decisions.
Ethics Week begins with an address from Robert Audi, Ph.D., professor of philosophy and David E. Gallo Professor of Business Ethics at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. The event will be held in the 4th Floor Program Room of the Andrew White Student Center on Loyola’s North Charles Street campus. Audi is the author of 13 books, including his most recent, Business Ethics and Ethical Business, as well as more than 200 papers.
In addition, the series includes these events:
- A screening of the film, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, and discussion facilitated by Andrea Giampetro-Meyer, J.D., professor of law and social responsibility, on Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Cohn Hall 33 on Loyola’s North Charles Street campus;
- A panel discussion, “From Daily Ethical Dilemmas to Ethics Disasters: Views from the Trenches,” featuring Tom DiLionardo, chief compliance officer at KPMG; Randy Komenski, clinical operations administrator for patient care services at Bon Secours Hospital; and Mark Lastner, ‘77, general auditor and chief risk officer at CIGNA Corporation. The panel will be co-moderated by Giampetro-Meyer and Beta Gamma Sigma President Christian Hayes, ‘10, on Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in McGuire Hall West on Loyola’s North Charles Street campus;
- A screening of the film, Michael Clayton, with a discussion facilitated by Rev. Tim Brown, S.J., on Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in room 201 of the Sellinger building on Loyola’s North Charles Street campus.
All events are free and open to the public, and are co-sponsored by the law and social responsibility department, the philosophy department, Beta Gamma Sigma, Beta Alpha Psi, and the Sellinger Management Association.
