Washington Montessori Institute at Loyola University Maryland in Affiliation with Association Montessori Internationale
The oldest AMI-accredited training center in North America, Washington Montessori Institute (WMI) is located in a beautiful suburban setting situated between Washington, D.C. and Loyola's graduate center in Columbia, MD, just south of Baltimore.
WMI offers graduate programs in Montessori education that guide adults as they prepare for the work and responsibility of helping each child to develop the fullness of his or her potential. The programs provide graduate students with opportunities to acquire an understanding of a child's stages of development and the different conditions and strategies necessary to support development at each stage. Students also broaden their knowledge of research and trends in the field of education and are prepared to assume leadership roles in their profession. Programs Offered Students select one area of concentration: Primary (ages 3 - 6), or Elementary (ages 6 - 12). The programs at WMI are offered in both academic year and multi-summer formats. A new cohort of students is admitted each year for the Primary and Elementary year format. Multi-summer formatted training programs are offered periodically. Upon completion of the program, graduates receive both the internationally recognized Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diploma and the Master of Education degree from Loyola.
