The goal of Loyola’s graduate programs in Montessori Education is to guide adults as they prepare for the work and responsibility of helping each child to develop to the fullness of his or her potential.

The faculty engaged in this training are truly experts in the field and are often called upon to lend their expertise and guidance in school and professional development.

Janet McDonell – WMI Faculty
Primary Specialization (Ages 3–6)
Janet McDonell, AMI Primary Director at WMI, is a Primary teacher trainer of the Association Montessori Internationale. She holds AMI Primary, Elementary and Special Education diplomas, as well as a B.A. in comparative literature from the University of Wisconsin and an M.Ed. from Loyola College in Maryland. She has 20 years of teaching and administrative experience in Montessori schools with children of widely varied backgrounds. Janet is an examiner for AMI and a consultant for AMI/USA. She also serves on the board of AMI/USA. Janet is the coordinator of the Training Group for AMI.

Kay Baker – WMI Faculty
Elementary Specialization (Ages 6–12)
Kay Baker, Ph.D., AMI Elementary Director at WMI, is an Elementary teacher trainer of the Association Montessori Internationale. She holds AMI Primary and Elementary diplomas, a B.A. in mathematics from the College of New Rochelle, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. Her dissertation focused on children’s problem-solving strategies. She has experience in public high school and in primary and elementary Montessori classrooms. She is an examiner for AMI and a school consultant for AMI/USA.

Sharon Dubble – Loyola College in Maryland Faculty
Educational Core (M.Ed.)
Sharon Dubble, Ph.D., Director and Chair, Center for Montessori Education at Loyola College, holds AMI Primary and Elementary diplomas, a B.A. in social work from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in education from Walden University. She has 20 years of Montessori teaching and administrative experience prior to her full-time focus in higher education. She is co-author of The Whole-School Montessori Handbook and is active in professional development and consultation for Montessori administrators.
