Bio
Stephanie Flores-Koulish is an Associate Professor and director of the Curriculum and Instruction program. Her primary area of expertise and research is Critical Media Literacy Education, an emerging education field in the US whereby students learn to become critical viewers, consumers and creators of media, from television to radio to the internet. She also has research interests in identity and adoption. She founded the Putting Justice in Education series in 2005, and currently co-directs the Center for Innovation in Urban Education (CIUE). This work provides her with many opportunities to practice engaged scholarship in and around Baltimore City.
