Putting an Item on Hold
Students and faculty from Loyola or Notre Dame can place LNDL materials on hold through the library catalog.
  1. Go to the library catalog.
  2. After searching for an item, click on the title and select “Availability”.
  3. Check that the item’s status says “On Shelf” and that the location has “Loyola Notre Dame Library” in the name.
  4. Select the yellow Request button.
  5. Choose your school (Loyola University or Notre Dame of Maryland University) and log in with your library barcode.
  6. Choose your pickup location.
  7. Select “Send”.

You will receive an email when your item is ready for pickup at the Customer Services (circulation) desk on the main floor of the library.

To place a hold on an item that is currently checked out (this process is called a “recall”) follow the same steps listed above. The person who has the book checked out will have 14 days to return it, unless the original due date is sooner. You can track the status of your recall in your library account, and you’ll receive an email when the item is available for pickup.
