Certificate of Advanced Study

Overview

Students who already possess a master's degree in psychology or a related field and are looking to enhance their knowledge and skills in clinical or counseling psychology may choose to pursue a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS). CAS students tailor their courses to meet specialized job, certification, and credentialing requirements in such areas as family treatment, clinical mental health counseling and school psychology, among others. Course offerings include many subjects required by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors to become a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).

Requirements

Candidates for the CAS must hold a master's degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university. The program encompasses 30 credit hours beyond the master's level and waives requirements for comprehensive examinations and the thesis.
