Non-Degree Options in Computer Science and Software Engineering

Non-Degree Options in Computer Science and Software Engineering

Working professionals holding advanced degrees in subject areas including, or related to computer science or software engineering are offered the opportunity to enroll as special students in master-level courses at Loyola. Typically, individuals who pursue a Master's Plus in Computing and Software Engineering take up to five courses in a concentration area in which they have had little formal classroom theory or skills training. The Master's Plus option provides a wide range of skills-enhancement opportunities for computer science and software engineering professionals who require exposure to new and emerging technologies, or a more in-depth study of a second concentration of study.

Provisional admission is offered to individuals who wish to take one or two courses prior to matriculation in a degree program at Loyola. Designed for the working professional who is undecided about which technology area to pursue as a degree program, this option is ideally suited to specialists who desire continuing professional education in a formal setting. Admitted as non-candidates, students who pursue coursework outside the degree are permitted to register with permission from the department. Pre-requisites must be fulfilled in order to pursue this option. While students enrolled as non-candidates may take an unlimited number of courses, only two may be applied to a degree program prior to formal admission.

Questions about non-degree course options should be forwarded to the director of graduate admission by e-mail at graduate@loyola.edu or by phone at 410-617-5020.
