Public safety is comprised of the Police Services Division and the Support Operations Division. Police Services consists of 40 sworn police officers who provide a 24 hour presence on the Loyola campus using foot, bicycle, and motorized patrol. Each shift is closely supervised by two shift commanders with the authority and responsibility to assure that the policies and procedures of the department are followed.

Support Operation consists of the emergency communications dispatch center (base) and the access control unit. Base is the monitoring point for all 911 emergency calls, campus alarm systems, card key access control, video surveillance, and fire alarm. It is staffed by trained public safety officers on a 24 hour basis, seven days a week and is located in the Facilities Building Room 200. They can be reached by calling 410-617-5010. The access control unit, which can be contacted by calling 410-617-2239 is responsible for all door control devices and the installation and maintenance of theft and burglar alarms.
