RETREATS

REGISTER ONLINE

(All registration is now done online.)

The Retreat program offers students the opportunity to take time out from their busy academic and social lives for prayer and discernment. Students frequently must consider major issues of faith, vocation, and identity. The design of our retreats reflects the developmental nature of the young adult's spiritual journey and growth.

Feel free to explore our website and if you have any questions please contact Anne McSweeney at ext. 2768 or amcsweeney@loyola.edu. Anyone interested in attending a Campus Ministry a retreat should REGISTER ONLINE. See our schedule of upcoming retreats and their corresponding registration dates below.

Unless otherwise noted, retreats will be held at our beautiful retreat center, Rising Phoenix.  Located on 20 serene acres in the mountains of Western Maryland, Rising Phoenix Retreat Center offers a peaceful setting where individuals and groups are empowered to do the work necessary for reconnecting and renewing their hearts, minds, bodies and spirits. Please visit the Loyola University Retreat House Website for more information.

First Year Retreat
This retreat invites first year students to explore their growing and changing relationships with family, friends, self and God. Upperclass Loyola students share their own experiences and encourage conversation and reflection on topics relevant to the first-year experience, including self-identity, transitions, relationships, community and discernment. The retreat weekends will takes place on October 23 - 25, 2009 and February 5 - February 7, 2010. If you are interested please contact Emily Rauer Davis at erauer@loyola.edu or ext. 2838.

Sophomore Retreat
The Sophomore "Identity" Retreat is a weekend of reflection and prayer for second year students. Entering a year of important decision-making (self-identity, friendships, finding your place, junior year abroad opportunities), this weekend will assist students to explore and discern personal direction and goals for the years ahead. While participating in small group discussions and hands-on activities, this retreat presents the opportunity for personal prayer and reflection as well as active engagement with classmates, upperclass students and a wide variety of Loyola College faculty and staff. The retreat will take place the weekend of October 9 - 11, 2009. Space is limited to about 30 students and will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. For more information please contact Fr. Jack Dennis, S.J. at JDennis@loyola.edu or call ext. 2444.

A.M.D.G.: The Retreat
A.M.D.G.: The Retreat is for students who have had a significant retreat experience, either in high school or at Loyola. This includes Kairos, Emmaus, Encounter, Search, Loyola Class Retreats (i.e. Freshman, Sophomore, etc) -- or K2C here at Loyola. A.M.D.G.'s main focus is on Ignatian Themes, such as the Fist Principal and Foundation of St. Ignatius, Being a Discerning Person, and The Magis, among others. The Retreat takes place the weekend of November 13-15, 2009, at Loyola University Retreat House. If you feel that you have had a significant retreat experience, and wish to further explore your faith through Jesuit Core Values, please sign up for A.M.D.G.: The Retreat (on-line), or contact Fr. Jack Dennis at jdennis@loyola.edu or ext. 2444.

Junior Retreat
The mission of the Junior Retreat is to give students a chance to spiritually reflect on the many transitions of their third year at Loyola College. This time is largely shaped by the juniors’ decision to either go abroad or to stay at Loyola.  Bearing in mind that the transitions faced during junior year are only the beginning of a great number of life changes, the Junior Retreat also seeks to prepare juniors for future transitions. Junior “Transitions” Retreat takes place the weekend of January 15 - 17, 2010.  If you are interested or have any questions please contact Jessica Pane at jpane@loyola.edu or ext. 2883.

Senior Retreat
Seniors often remark that their time spent at Loyola was the most significant time in their lives.  The Senior Retreat offers students in their last days at Loyola the opportunity to explore where they have been, where they may be going, and the challenges, fears, and excitement that accompany the transition into a new and dynamic life after Loyola.  The weekend takes place February 19 - 21, 2010. If you are interested please contact Jessica Pane at  jpane@loyola.edu or ext. 2883.

Women's Retreat
The Women's Retreat offers undergraduate women in the Loyola community a weekend away to pray, reflect and share with one another as women of faith in the 21st century. Led by a team of students and staff, there is plenty of time for discussion, prayer, and relaxation.  This years Women's Retreat will be held March 12 - 14, 2010. Please contact Jessica Pane at jpane@loyola.edu or ext. 2883 for more information.

Mother-Daughter Retreat
The Mother-Daughter Retreat is an opportunity for Loyola students and their mothers to get away with other mothers and daughters to bond, reminisce, pray, laugh and learn. Mother-daughter pairs will spend time with one another as well as with their peers to reflect upon both the joys and challenges of the mother-daughter relationship. For more information, please contact Emily Rauer Davis at erauer@loyola.edu or ext. 2838.  **Please note: the Mother-Daughter Retreat will return in the 2010-2011 academic year.

Ignatian Retreat
Campus Ministry invites Loyola faculty, staff, and administrators to join together in five days of attentive, reflective, and active engagement in the Spiritual Exercises during the 2009 Ignatian Retreat. Participants will be led by Loyola colleagues to consider the ways their unique gifts, experiences, and callings might be brought together through the work of the Spirit to promote the Catholic and Jesuit mission of Loyola College. Through daily opportunities for silent and communal prayer, input, and dialogue, faculty, staff, and administrators will contemplate the graces of Gratitude, Healing, Call, and Co-Laboring and will walk intentionally toward a place of deeper commitment to the Ignatian values and traditions of Loyola. This retreat will take place February 28 - March 5, 2010 and  May 16-21, 2010 in Faulkner, MD.   If you are interested please contact Fr. Timothy Brown, S.J. at tbrown@loyola.edu or ext. 5524. For more information, visit the Ignatian Retreat Web page.
