ADAPT is a Peer Education group committed to empowering, educating and creating change among our peers and our community. ADAPT increases awareness about wellness issues related to alcohol and other drug use.

ADAPT is not opposed to alcohol use, just alcohol misuse. ADAPT Peer Educators believe in educating and empowering peers to make healthy choices and decisions. We believe in helping students to gain knowledge and giving students the information to make their own decisions.

ADAPT Peer Educators are involved in the development and presentation of alcohol and other drug awareness presentations in classrooms and residence halls. ADAPT also plan several campus-wide education and social programs throughout the school year.

Reality Check

Peer Educators share some "Strong Truths" about Loyola, gleaned from student surveys, and facilitate a discussion about these statistics.  Peer Educators then lead an insightful activity in which students discuss their own experiences and opinions regarding alcohol and drug choices facing college students.  This interactive and relaxed program, which has been used extensively for FE 100 classes, is sure to stimulate important discussion for all types of groups!

 Risky Business

Risky Business is a program centered on the affects of alcohol and/or drugs on sexual decision making.  Peer educators provide a safe environment for students to share various views and concerns regarding this topic.  Students discuss the realm of possible situations that can arise when sexual decisions are influenced by alcohol, as well as harm-reduction strategies that can be used to stay healthy and safe.

The Drug Deal

ADAPT presents information on numerous drugs, including marijuana and prescription medications, and talk about the short-term and long-term effects of abusing such drugs.  They provide a safe environment for students to share concerns, to ask questions about certain drugs, and to discuss perceptions and views about drug use on college campuses.

Leadership Training

ADAPT Peer Educators also provide training to student leadership groups.  Along with supplying current statistical information about Loyola student alcohol and drug behaviors, student leaders will discuss the myths and realities of Loyola's social climate.  Students will also discuss the privileges and responsibilities that come with being a leader on campus and brainstorm ways to support a culture of health, safety and school pride!
