New Student Checklist
Fall 2024 First-Year Students
Welcome to the Greyhound Nation! Submitting your deposit is just the first step in beginning your Loyola journey. As a new student, we know you likely have a lot of questions about what you’ll need to do to prepare for your first semester at Loyola.
The New Student Checklist below is designed to guide you through the tasks you need to complete to finish the enrollment process and begin your journey as a Greyhound. Additional information about each enrollment step will be sent to your Loyola email address.
ASAP Select an intended major and confirm contact information
Confirm/edit your contact information and then select an intended major.
Go to Inside Loyola click Undergrad Demographics, then enter your username again to access the Undergraduate Demographics Update form. Your username is the same as your email address but without "@loyola.edu" on the end.
For questions about login access, please contact the Office of Technology Services at 410-617-5555.
For questions about this process, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 410-617-2659 or visit the Contact Us page.
ASAP Complete Messina preferences
Messina is Loyola’s first-year living learning program and students can preference at least five course pairings that they are interested in taking during their first year at Loyola. Our staff will work to honor your selections based on availability and your intended program of study. You will receive final confirmation of your Messina course pairing and partial fall course schedule by late June. You will also have an opportunity to speak to an advisor in July to review (and complete) your schedule and make any changes if necessary.
ASAP Complete online math and language placement tests
All students should take the placement exams—even if you have AP/IB/College Credit that will satisfy core requirement. The results from these placement tests will be used during the course registration process.
June 14 Complete your residency intent
Starting on June 3, incoming first-year students will have access to submit the first phase of the 2024-25 academic year housing application.
Once deposited, students will receive a welcome email from the Office of Residence Life & Housing with instructions on how to submit the housing application. All students are required to submit this application within 72 hours of receiving this email, whether or not they plan to live on campus.
Late June Participate in Summer Orientation
Summer Orientation is designed to provide you with foundational information that will be beneficial as you engage in your July activities, which include online housing registration, virtual meetings with your academic advisor to schedule classes, and completion of required online training modules. Throughout the summer, you can also participate in various webinars designed to introduce you to the wider Loyola community.
Registration for our virtual orientation program is still available. Students have the option of attending one of the following sessions:
- June 26
- June 29
- July 9
If you have questions or are unable to attend any of these dates, please email orientation@loyola.edu
June 3-July 12 Consider registering for a Pre-fall Program
Loyola's Pre-Fall Programs offer the opportunity to make early connections to Loyola, Baltimore, and your classmates. Each of these experiences occurs prior to the start of Fall Welcome Weekend, giving you a chance to arrive to campus a few days early in August and ease into your first year at Loyola. Registration is available from June 3-July 12 and programs fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
Note: Students may not register for multiple programs.
If applicable Register with Disability & Accessibility Services (DAS)
Students seeking learning accommodations should register with DAS after May 15, 2024. Students can register anytime during their studies at Loyola but accommodations are not retroactive if they choose to wait. Current and comprehensive documentation of one's disabilities are required for registration. Requests for first-year housing accommodations must be made between May 16 and July 1, 2024. Late requests will be reviewed but not guaranteed, and potentially placed on a waitlist.
DAS takes about two weeks to reply to requests, but can be longer during times of high registration volume.

June 30 Complete the Student Family Profile
In an effort to maintain connection with our students’ families, we ask for your cooperation in providing information that will allow us to keep your family informed about campus life. Please ask your parents or guardian to complete the Student Family Profile.
July 1 Fulfill health requirements
Students are required to complete the Student Health Profile Requirements, including submitting immunization records and providing proof of insurance. This profile is to be completed entirely on the Secure Patient Portal.
Students living on campus will be prohibited from checking into the residence halls until the health profile is complete.
July 8 Submit a Roommate Request
Starting June 24, students will have access to request a direct roommate. The Roommate Request page can be found by returning to the housing application on RoomRez. Students not requesting a roommate do not need to take further action in their housing application.
July 15 Submit your final transcript
In order to complete your admission file please arrange to have your school counseling office send us your final high school transcript no later than July 15. The transcript must come directly from your school counseling office and include your high school graduation date. It should be submitted electronically through the Common Application or by email to admission@loyola.edu.
August 1 Submit final tuition payment
Submit your final tuition payment online.
August 2 Complete online educational training
As a new member of the Loyola community, there are several online programs that you are required to complete. Topics include alcohol and drug education, sexual assault prevention, mental well-being, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Information and instructions will be sent to your Loyola email address in July.
Students living on campus will be prohibited from checking into the residence halls until all online trainings are complete.
Submit photo for Evergreen Card
The Evergreen card is your campus ID as well as access to your residence hall, meal plan, printing and laundry services. Beginning in June, you will receive an email with the subject “Loyola University Maryland ID Photo Submission” with instructions on how to upload your photo. You will continue to receive emails until you have completed this step in the process.
August 14 Sign up for a move-in appointment
Starting August 1, students can select and confirm their move-in time in the RoomRez portal.
Instructions on selecting their move-in appointment will be communicated in their housing assignment email sent late July.
August 31 Enroll in or waive the student health insurance plan
Loyola University requires all full-time students to have health insurance during the academic year. You are required to either enroll in or waive the insurance coverage offered by the University. Action must be taken. Additional information on the plan and instructions on how to either enroll/waive will be sent to your Loyola email beginning in June.
Access your Loyola student account and email
Most of the official communication you receive from Loyola will be delivered electronically to your Loyola email. Within three to five business days of your deposit to Loyola, you’ll receive an ID number, username, and official Loyola email address. It is important to check your account frequently for news and information.
If you have trouble finding these emails (remember to check your junk folder) or have questions about your email account or ID number, please contact the office of technology services at 410-617-5555.
