Diversity Reading Groups

Fall 2007 Diversity Reading Group Program

MEMORANDUM

TO:  Loyola College Faculty, Staff, and Administrators
FROM:  Martha L. Wharton, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Diversity
SUBJECT:  Diversity Reading Groups
DATE:  September 4, 2007

Reading with co-workers and colleagues is a great way to begin the new academic year! For the sixth year, the Diversity Reading Groups program offers many opportunities to read contemporary, engaging, up-to-the-minute works about our age's important issues.

I have selected five books for the semester.  I hope you will choose to participate in at least one of the reading groups this year.  The reading groups will meet for an hour on a weekly basis for six weeks - beginning the week of October 1st through the week of November 5th.

Please click here to find a listing of the groups, the facilitators, and the dates, times, and places for each reading group’s orientation meeting.  Please plan to attend the orientation meeting for the group(s) you would like to join.  You will meet the facilitator and other group members, and help to determine your group’s regular meeting time.  I encourage you to find a book group you will enjoy and to join others as they read and discuss a great book.

Please click here to register for a group.  You can register on-line, or call ext. 2988 to register.  Space is limited and available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
