The Office of Academic Affairs

The Office of Academic Affairs provides assistance, leadership, guidance, and resources to as well as supervision of the entire academic division in support of the mission of Loyola College.

Dr. Timothy Law Snyder, Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Snyder is the College's chief academic officer. A member of the President's Cabinet, he provides leadership and support to the Deans, Directors, and Heads within the academic division as the College seeks to continually improve its academic programs and faculty development opportunities.

Dr. Jen L. Lowry, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Lowry's areas of responsibility include preparing and supervising the academic division's budgets, providing support to department chairs, serving as the office's liaison for governance, providing support to graduate programs, and integrating academic data collection with the office of Institutional Research.

Dr. Donald Boomgaarden, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Boomgaarden's areas of responsibility include representing the academic division in space planning projects, assisting with academic program reviews as well as administrative support services reviews, serving as the College's liaison to MHEC and MICUA, overseeing the processing of student course evaluations, and supervising those who coordinate academic ceremonies.

Dr. Martha Wharton, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs and Diversity
Dr. Wharton's areas of responsibility include developing and extending the academic division's diversity efforts in hiring, climate change, and faculty and student retention; overseeing curriculum infusion workshops for faculty; coordinating programs for new faculty orientation and ongoing faculty development; and acting as liaison with other College divisions on diversity and community building initiatives. She chairs the College Diversity Committee.

Joshua Gembicki, Executive Assistant
Mr. Gembicki is the executive assistant to Dr. Snyder; he is also the secretary to the Board on Rank and Tenure.

Sandra O'Neil, Executive Assistant  
Ms. O'Neil is the executive assistant to Dr. Lowry; she also provides administrative assistance to the College governance bodies.

Ann Burke, Executive Secretary and Office Coordinator
Ms. Burke is the executive secretary to Dr. Boomgaarden; she also provides general support to the entire office.

Vacant, Program Assistant
The program assistant for Dr. Wharton; provides administrative assistance to the College Diversity Committee.

Kristen Fisher, Coordinator for Student Course Evaluation Program and Academic Ceremonies
Ms. Fisher
provides assistance and coordination for academic ceremonies, including commencement, and supervises the processing of Student Course Evaluation Forms.

Sapreina Acree, Diversity Resource Assistant
Ms. Acree is Dr. Wharton's diversity resource assistant. She provides administrative support for a variety of office functions and committees, including the recruitment and search process.
Ms. Acree also supports Women in Maryland Higher Education, a statewide organization that
Dr. Wharton chairs.
