Cheering for the Greyhounds at home games. Relay for Life. Loyolapalooza. The list goes on. At Loyola, our devotion to tradition extends far beyond our Jesuit roots. It finds its way to the soccer field, to the runway, the music stage, and all over the Quad. We do things together, as Greyhounds. Whether it’s playing a friendly (well, mostly) game on the gridiron against the sophomore class, or dancing away a sunny afternoon to the sounds of a great band at Loyolapalooza, our traditions infuse the campus and co-eds with school spirit. At Loyola, this is simply how we express our pride, our energy, and our loyalty to the Greyhounds who have come before us.

Physical activity and recreation—from competitive sports to personal fitness—are fully intertwined in the fabric of a Loyola education. With 18 fiercely competitive NCAA Division I varsity teams, countless intramural opportunities, and a state-of-the-art Fitness & Aquatic Center, our devotion to physical activity is no small matter. At Loyola, we believe the body must be cared for with the same focus and energy as the mind to be able to serve the world to the best of our ability. And for this reason, our teams, coaches, and student body engage in vigorous exercise of the body for something much bigger than bragging rights.

At Loyola, it’s inevitable that you’ll have questions. And this extends beyond classroom discussions. Thankfully, Loyola Student Services offers friendly and helpful staff to help you with everything you need if you’re feeling unprepared, frustrated, ill, or anything in between. With career counseling, health care, academic counseling, financial aid, and student development support, among others, we’ve got all the bases covered so that you can explore the world around you with confidence.

Baltimore is an integral part of the Loyola experience—it is, after all, our hometown. And trust us when we tell you that there’s much more to it than crabs and shopping (though these are both incredible). The best thing about Baltimore? It’s constantly evolving. No matter what your interests are, there are thriving scenes emerging in up-and-coming neighborhoods all over Baltimore. Memorize the names Federal Hill, Canton, Inner Harbor, and Fells Point. Furnish your place with interesting knickknacks at the Station North Flea Market. Pick up tunes at The Sound Garden—one of the best record stores in the country. There’s so much to explore, it would take a lot more than four years before you’d ever run out of options.
