Works by several authors with Loyola University Maryland ties appear in City Sages: Baltimore, a new anthology featuring pieces by historic Baltimore-connected writers including Edgar Allan Poe and Frederick Douglass as well as contemporary authors. Jane Satterfield, ’86, MFA, associate professor of writing; Ron Tanner, Ph.D., professor of writing; Gregg Wilhelm, ’89, director of Apprentice House, Loyola’s student-run publishing company; and journalist and screenwriter Rafael Alvarez, ’80, all contributed pieces to the compilation.
The book is the first project published by CityLit Press, a new initiative of the CityLit Project. City Lit Press aims to provide a venue for Baltimore area writers who might otherwise be overlooked by larger publishers, while the non-profit CityLit Project presents public events, writers’ workshops, and youth programs designed to install a lifelong love of literature. Wilhelm serves as the CityLit Project’s director and as publisher of the press.
City Sages: Baltimore debuted April 17 at the CityLit Festival at Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Free Library. For more information, visit www.citylitproject.org.
